Patch Chrono Trigger Ds Rom

Posted on

How is it done?Basically, the game has sprites and tilesets. The sprites are the pictures which contains the character data. The game has two set of these: The filtered ones and the original ones.

  1. Chrono Trigger Ds Cia

What was done here was to double the size of the original ones to match the resolution of the new ones, without any filter applied to keep the good old pixelart look. Then, transparency was carefully applied to every single sprite sets, to avoid some sprites to be botched. As for the tilesets, this is more complicated. As the original ones aren't included, I basically had to downsize the filtered tilesets to their original size, the resize them to the new size without any filter, to 'nullify' the filter applied. Which means this isn't 100% accurate or 1:1 compared to the original assets. Then again if you want a real solution, wait for theHere's how it looks compared to the SNES game. How does it works?Beforehand, you need two elements:CTDefilter, made by Jed Lang/Nyxo, which disables the post processing blurry filter applied on top of the game.CTExplore, made by Jed Lang/Nyxo, which allows to patch the game.

It is a 1:1 restoration attempt of the mobile version of Chrono Trigger to look identical to the SNES game, or DS version. Since this version of the game has the additional content of the DS game, my team and I will be recreating the SNES graphics into the DS graphics as well, so that you get the DS content into the SNES graphics!

To see how it works, just head here:After you downloaded both tools you need to apply this patch with CTExplore:Once it's done, enjoy your game! Also, credits goes to Jed Lang/Nyxo for his amazing tools and shoutout to the Chrono Trigger Restoration Project team, which is preparing a tremendous work.Edit: Link has been fixed! Thanks to Rhyagelle for bringing the issue to me! It seems indeed I put the folder up too high. How is it done?Basically, the game has sprites and tilesets. It's also impressive the time you took to clearly explain the difference between this mod and the other ones out there. Thanks for being such a huge help to the community!

This is a great solution until my team and I get the 1:1 mod up and finished. I advise anyone who REALLY wants to play and can't wait to use this if you are willing to replay again, otherwise, wait.I want to say that Speedwagon has been helping us since day 1 with his mod, just hours after Nyxo messaged me when his Tool went live Speed messaged me with his sprite and chipset dump. We've been using it as a guide for the mangled pieces in the mobile dumps. It has been TREMENDOUS value to us.

He's held off posting his thread because he wanted to be considerate of me and my team's hard work, keeping his stuff to the discord, pms, guide and group, but now I wish he had posted sooner because someone without any integrity it seems ripped Speedwagon's method off and his work and posted it as his own work on reddit and apparently under the dishonesty of it being 1:1 SNES quality.sigh-I'm sorry Speedwagon, we've been borked by the piggbackers of society, but it is yours that got the full brunt of it. Again, my apologies man. Hopefully this is all a misunderstanding, but in this reality messed up crap is more common than misunderstandings or good things.:(.

I'll edit in a moment.EDITLooks like the structure is off. I'll message Speed about it.

For now, let me message you a fix. Hopefully he won't mind that. Originally posted by:Let me take a look at it for you. The patch structure may be off. I'll edit in a moment.EDITLooks like the structure is off. I'll message Speed about it.
